Recognition Walk and Event: Walk With Danny

Three Loudoun County residents, two of whom are Leesburg residents will be walking several continents for the next two years! Global Walk Foundation sponsors are We Are Family, Hallelujah Acres and Points of Light. Global Walk brings awareness to the world on such topics as the Water shortage experienced in impoverished countries, the need to conquer the AIDS epidemic, the great power of Love, and how hope for the future lies in helping Kids everywhere.
Community support and recognition will be on Saturday, September 9, 2006:
- 9:30 AM Recognition Walk. Meet Danny and group at Loudoun County High School at the corner of Catoctin Circle and Dry Mill Road, SW, Leesbug, VA. Walk to the Loudoun County Government Building. 1-1/2 miles. Please bring your own bottled water.
- 10:00 AM Recognition Event. Courtyard of Loudoun County Government Building at 1 Harrison Street, SE, Leesburg, VA.
Danny Garcia, a Loudoun County resident has walked numerous continents already and on August 29th started walking from New Orleans, LA and will arrive in Leesbug on Saturday, September 9, 2006. Danny's Global Walk will be at the Embassy's in Washington, D.C. on September 10 and in New York City at Ground Zero for a progam the evening of September 11. From there he flys to Alaska and begins his walk south along the Pan American Highway until he nears the tip of South America and then on to Africa, the Middle East and completes this walk at the opening ceeremony of the 2008 Olympics in Bejing, China.
Jackie Charsagua, Chief Operating Officer of Global Walk is a Leesburg resident, recently retired from the Air Force as a Lt. Col. Her daughter, also named Jackie attended Simpson Middle School during the past school year and now anticipates a unique opportunity to continue her schooling as she travels the world.
Paul Malkmus, President of Halleleujah Acres, one of the Global Walk sponsors will be a special guest for this Recognition Event as well as Ron West, also from Hallelujah Acres, Administrative Staff.
Esther Kibunja from Kenya, Africa will also be at this Event. Esther is a Health Minister using the progam of Hallelujah Acres which helps to create an environment for healing in the body, with AIDS patients in Kenya. This program has also been effective in assisting people in their recovery from over 170 different diseases such as diabetes, cancer and heart disease.
