Hallelujah Acres Moves Forward with Hotel-Conference Center Plans
July 27, 2006
Hallelujah Acres announced today it has completed the purchase of 102 acres located across from the organization’s corporate headquarters on South Post Road here.
The property will be the site of a state-of-the-art hotel and conference center. The complex will include a 60-room, 12-suite hotel; a 250-seat, full-service restaurant; a 3,000-sq.ft. health food store, administrative offices, shops and other supportive businesses.
The site also will include a residential section of townhouses and independent family dwellings.
“We’re very excited about this building project, and all it will mean for Shelby, Cleveland County and the surrounding region,” said Paul Malkmus, president of Hallelujah Acres. “We expect to break ground in February 2007. The hotel project should be completed by January 2008.”
Malkmus said the $30-million project is expected to stimulate growth in the area and boost travel and tourism. Hallelujah Acres expects the new center will be “an oasis of health and nutrition,” not only for Cleveland County, but for people from all over the United States and around the world, he said.
More than 30,000 people visit Hallelujah Acres’ facility each year, Malkmus said.
