Hallelujah Acres has three reasons to celebrate on Friday, Feb. 12.

It's the company's 18th anniversary, Founder, the Rev. George Malkmus' 76th birthday and the grand opening of the all-new Hallelujah Acres Café. The celebration is aptly named "The Big Day."

With his 76th birthday just a few days away, Malkmus credits his decision to begin eating a vegetarian diet more than 34 years ago with the health and vitality he enjoys today. He was so passionate about the health benefits of this diet that in 1992. Malkmus and his wife Rhonda opened Hallelujah Acres, a restaurant and health food store in the small town of Rogersville, Tenn.

Today, Hallelujah Acres, whose corporate headquarters is located in Shelby, has grown into an international health and wellness company with millions of customers. Friday will feature a full day of activities open to the public, beginning with the Grand Opening ribbon cutting of The Hallelujah Acres Café at 10:30 a.m. including appetizer-sized samples of the Café's gourmet creations. The all-new Hallelujah Acres Café offers a menu that showcases the surprising possibilities of exceptional flavors of vegetarian fare. Entrees include sundried tomato and mushroom zucchini pasta, marinated Portobello mushroom hoagies, dairy-free pomegranate cheesecake and gourmet pizza with macadamia dairy-free cheese.

Café hours are Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. (Appetizer-sized samples replace the regular menu on Feb. 12).

Beginning at 11:30 a.m., guests are invited to attend a series of free food prep demonstrations every half hour at the Hallelujah Acres kitchen stage that will reveal the secrets of preparing vegetarian delicacies, such as vegetarian burgers, nut milks, smoothies, home-made salad dressings and more. At noon, Hallelujah Acres will celebrate Malkmus' birthday, complete with vegetarian-friendly cake and punch.

The Big Day will also include door prize drawings throughout the afternoon and Hallelujah Acres staff will be on hand to answer questions about the business including:
