Our History at a Glance

  • 1976
    • Rev. George Malkmus is told he has colon cancer.

  • 1977
    • A year after switching to a vegan diet and lots of vegetable juices, Rev. Malkmus’ baseball-sized tumor disappears and he begins sharing his life-saving message.

  • 1986
    • Rev. Malkmus purchases a 50-acre farm in Eidson, TN which would become the first home of Hallelujah Acres.

  • 1989
    • Rev. Malkmus publishes his first book, Why Christians Get Sick.

  • 1992
    • Rev. Malkmus opens Hallelujah Acres restaurant and health food store (seating capacity: 16) in Rogersville, TN on February 12.

    • George and Rhonda are married on April 11.

  • 1993
    • Hallelujah Acres restaurant is relocated to a 56-seat facility.

  • 1994
    • Hallelujah Acres restaurant is closed to concentrate on spreading the message of hope and healing.

  • 1995
    • Rev. Malkmus publishes his second book, God’s Way to Ultimate Health

  • 1997
    • Hallelujah Acres moves to its present location at 900 South Post Road in Shelby, North Carolina.

  • 1998
    • Dr. Michael Donaldson, PhD is hired as Head of Research for the Hallelujah Acres Foundation, the research arm of Hallelujah Acres.

    • Rhonda publishes her first book, Recipes For Life From God’s Garden.

    • Hallelujah Acres hosts its first annual Health Minister Reunion

  • 1999
    • Hallelujah Acres Canada opens in Shallow Lake, Ontario.

    • Hallelujah Acres hosts its first Women’s Retreat

  • 2001
    • The Get Healthy! Stay Balanced program is introduced.

  • 2002
    • BarleyMax is introduced.

  • 2003
    • CarrotJuiceMax and BeetMax are introduced

  • 2004-2008
    • Hallelujah Acres expands is product line to include an Antioxidant supplement, Digestive Enzymes, Intestinal Balance, B12-B6-Folic Acid, among others.

    • Hallelujah Acres Lifestyle Centers are opened across the USA.

    • The Villages of Hallelujah Acres healthy living housing development begins across the street from the Hallelujah Acres headquarters.

  • 2009
    • Hallelujah Acres expands its health food store to include a juice and smoothie bar, and opens a brand new café.
